A Sketchbook Flip-Through
The last sketch to finish off my sketchbook
I finished a sketchbook! It only took 6 years! (lol!)
A Sketchbook Flip-Through of Notes and Practice from Two Workshops, 2014-2020
I took a couple of art workshops in 2014 and 2015 and put my notes and drawings into a sketchbook. One workshop was online with urban sketcher Liz Steel and her Foundations class which I highly recommend. The other was a sketching nature workshop with Charlene Freeman held locally.
When I take workshops, I like to copy notes from the class into my sketchbooks and I try to draw every image (except photographs) that may be in the handouts as well as try to do all the suggested exercises from class. Most of the drawings are ink and watercolor. Some are graphite only. I finished the Foundations class in 2015 but the nature workshop had images that I left to finish later. Much later. I have drawings in here dated from 2016, 2017 and then 2020. So this sketchbook was mostly but not all done for years. I’m glad that I finally have finished it!
Here’s a link to see a flip-through of the sketchbook:

A Video of an Ink and Watercolor Sketch of New Art Supplies
An ink and watercolor sketch of some new art supplies
I am on day 22/100 of daily creating and sharing efforts as prompted by The Creative’s Workshop. For the past few days I’ve headed in a new direction and have been making daily videos of my drawing progress. Every day I try to add something small to my next video so I can keep learning and improving.
What I challenged myself with this video was combining several clips together as well as some photos. I also added some music playing in the background from copyright free sources. I figure that classical music will often be a good choice to go with drawing.
The video has the sketch being drawn, watercoloring it, labeling and then because it needed something more, some splatters. Various parts worked in this video and various need some refinements in my next video attempts.
My YouTube channel where I’m putting my videos is at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuW2C18HZ02vDzBbWV5Xt7Q/
Have you ever made a video of you making or doing something? How did it go? What were the challenging parts for you?
Quilted Boxed Zippered Bags Now Available!
From this...
To this!
I have been working on a fabric project for the past few weeks to create something useful and interesting and also be beautiful. I am happy to say that the first few samples are done and I love them! This is a quilted boxed zippered bag perfect for art supplies or toiletries or for travel. I like to save my scraps of fabric from earlier projects and put them together to make new interesting combinations. It is a very time consuming process but extremely satisfying to create. Each bag in this series is unique. The purple fabric in this example is a hand dyed fabric that I made. It is 100% cotton so can be washed as needed. I will be adding them to my shop as I get them done. Let me know what you think!
