A harpy eagle
For Inktober 2019, I came up with a list of 31 animals to draw from the book, Life of Pi. The main character’s father ran a zoo so there were many, many animals mentioned.

Ollie the Office Manager
This is Ollie, a King Charles Spaniel, who runs the office. Done with brown ink on watercolor paper.
A dog and her person
This is an ink and watercolor portrait I did, 9”x12”
Nala the Labradoodle
This is Nala the Labradoodle as she looked at the time of painting. I did this one and Nala as a puppy (also in the gallery) for a Christmas Pet Portrait commission. It was kind of fun working on two versions of the same dog.
Nala the Labradoodle as a Puppy
This is a portrait of Nala the Labradoodle as a puppy. It is all in and watercolor with a touch of gouache for the highlights in her eyes. Such a cutie!
Gretchen and Wiley
This portrait was of Gretchen and Wiley (the German Shepherd). I did a lot of inking before the watercolor. Going from dark or black fur into light lends itself to work with a pen. Extra detail was added in the end with some colored pencil.
Sasha
This commission was of an American Cocker Spaniel named Sasha. Here she is looking sleepy and comfortable on the couch. Ink and watercolor.
Oyuki and Gabriel, version 2
Two dogs, two owners, two portraits. This is one of two copies of the same portrait of two happy dogs on top a pile of bark at the dog park that I made.
LT Kitty
LT was a recent commission of a dearly beloved cat that passed recently much too early. He had a lovely personality and really did have one yellow eye and one blue one. Ink and watercolor.
Lilly the Aussie
This is from a post on Instagram of the Australian Shepherd Lilly (lillytheaussie). I asked her person for permission to draw a picture and she said yes. Here's the result. Such a happy looking dog.

A Working Horse in Trinidad, Cuba
This was a horse who graciously allowed me to ride her on a trip up to see a waterfall in Trinidad, Cuba. She knew what she was doing. I didn't.

Amazing what a change can make on a dog with a headscarf! Ink and watercolor, 8" x 10" (20.3 cm x 25.4 cm).
One of my Australian Shepherd's eyes. She had a blue eye and a brown eye.
Sumi, my lovely, sweet, Australian Shepherd. Ink and watercolor.
